Let me introduce you to paradise
As mentioned in the header; I would like to introduce you to paradise and I hope this will inspire you to visit this amazing island, Mauritius.
Last April, along with my lover, I took the change to travel for 5 days during the public holidays in Dubai. We picked Mauritius as this location has always been a dream to us. During our stay there we chose the Seapoint Boutique Hotel (highly recommended! :)).
What to do in Mauritius?
To be honest, Mauritius is an island with such a relaxing vibe. Nobody is in a hurry and everybody is enjoying their island life. So take the opportunity to enjoy a bit of that lifestyle along with your pool and beach days. However, if you are more into activities then you should definitely try out the paddle boarding. It is so much fun!
As most of the hotels provide free bikes, this is something you should definitely do. On a bike, you will be able to stop at little restaurants on the island (for fish lovers; Mauritius is seafood heaven!).
Since we only stayed on the island for a couple of days we were not able to go and see everything. But one thing we had to do was visiting the Il Aux Cerfs island. As we do not really fancy the group trips, we booked ourselves a private trip, which is quite pricey, but definitely worth it! A private driver picks you up from the hotel and takes you to a bay where a speed boat takes you to Il Aux Cerfs Island.
Only the trip itself is mind-blowing!
Before we reached the island we jumped into the water for snorkeling, which was another cross off of our bucket list.
As soon as you reach Il Aux Cerfs a group will be waiting for you to serve you an amazing BBQ lunch. And what is a Mauritian BBQ without some home made brewed rum, right? Well, I have to say that I would prefer the fresh coconut. LOL.
After the BBQ, we took the boat to the other side of the island, where we got to discover the island ourselves. On the island you will find sun beds, bars and activities such as snorkeling.
On our way back we passed by the waterfall, which was a-h-mazing!
Another thing we discovered on the day we left (luckily just on time) was the glass bottom boat. This is a boat with a glass bottom where you can see all the fish and coral reefs. I would recommend to go to Blue Bay Marina Park. You might see some sea turtles – like we did! 🙂 (see photo below)
If you are planning to visit Mauritius anytime soon or if you’ve ever been there, please let me know! I’m curious to hear all about your experiences.
